Some chase mountains, some chase city lights. Me? Give me a tee box facing the ocean and a salty breeze on my cheek, and I am home. After postponing one too many times, my clubs and I finally boarded for Cam Ranh — TGROUP’s 4-day, 3-course golf trip. Turns out it was about a lot more than golf.

STOP 01 — CHECK-IN

Falling for Premier Havana

A TGROUP driver was already waiting with a name board the moment I cleared arrivals — on time, clean car, cold water. Great first impression. Premier Havana sits right on beachfront Tran Phu Street; cross the road and your toes are in the sand.

From my high floor the whole bay rolled out behind the curtains, but the rooftop Skylight bar stole the show — a cocktail, the sea breeze, the city glittering below. Infinity pool, a generous breakfast buffet, and the local salt coffee to top it off.

STOP 02 — BEYOND THE FAIRWAY

Nha Trang has a lot more than golf

Between rounds I wandered. The thousand-year-old Cham temple Po Nagar glows at sunset; Hon Chong’s stacked boulders frame a gorgeous bay. On my Vinpearl day I stayed for VinWonders on Hon Tre island — water park and aquarium included.

And the food — wow. Ninh Hoa grilled pork (nem nuong) in rice paper, a clean-tasting fish noodle soup (bun ca), and an evening of fresh seafood (crab, lobster, sea snails) far cheaper than back home. Do try Khanh Hoa bird’s nest and that salt coffee.

THE 3 ROUNDS

And then, three rounds to remember

KN Golf Links (Cam Ranh) — a proper links. Dunes and sea wind test every shot, and the caddie read greens better than I could. Small gripe: midday sun is fierce; a few more shaded rest points would help.

Vinpearl Golf — the highlight. You ride a cable car across the sea to Hon Tre and play with a 360° ocean view. Gripe: the morning cable car was busy, ~15 min wait. Diamond Bay wrapped things up gently along the bay — a photographer’s dream. All three had great tee times, almost no waiting.

The Scorecard

Verdict: a "just bring your clubs and go" trip done right. I’ll be back — next time with a full four-ball.
